Veteran Politician Wins By-Election by Over 8500 Votes

Parrish to Focus on Housing, Infrastructure, and Community Development

Carolyn Parrish, the former Mississauga councillor and MP, has been declared the mayor-elect of Mississauga, Ontario. Parrish won the by-election by a margin of over 8500 votes.

Parrish, who was born Karolina Janoszewska in Poland in 1946, has a long history of public service. She served as a city councillor in Mississauga from 1991 to 1995, and then as a member of Parliament from 1997 to 2006. She has also served on the Mississauga Library Board and the Mississauga Arts Council.

In her campaign for mayor, Parrish focused on a number of key issues, including housing, infrastructure, and community development. She promised to streamline the permitting process for new housing construction, invest in infrastructure projects, and work to create a more vibrant and inclusive city.

Parrish's victory is a significant moment for Mississauga. She is the city's first female mayor and only its fifth mayor overall.
